Louisa Guy Roeder and Christina French Houghton launched Guy French in February 2010. They had always viewed blazers as a key component of a woman’s wardrobe but were challenged by the prices that often accompanied the garments they admired. Tired of not being able to find quality construction in jackets they could afford, they used their background in the arts to create what they coveted: beautiful, chic and timeless blazers. Their focus remains on creating classic, versatile styles that can be worn from day to night, one season to the next.
As designers, Christina and Louisa work tirelessly on their patterns and directly with their factory in the heart of New York City’s Garment District to ensure their pieces are constructed by hand with the highest attention to detail, never compromising their exacting standards of impeccable construction, style and quality. Yet they often seek out new ways to construct basic elements, pulling apart a shoulder, or inverting a lapel, all while remaining committed to elegant, wearable pieces.
Guy French blazers are made of the finest fabrics—high-quality cottons and English and Italian wools—and are both lightweight and luxurious. The styles are cut to accentuate a women’s silhouette with nipped-in waists, lowered buttons and long lines. They are made for the real women—from New York to London—who inspire the designers. Each style reveals unique details that give a sense of their personalities. Every collection features a one-of-a-kind, patterned liner designed by the partners themselves to be a hidden touch of inner whimsy that balances a polished exterior. You can catch it in glimpses.
Christina and Louisa believe that nothing is chicer or more confident than a beautifully tailored blazer.
